Food Court Budget

ObjectiveTo teach your children how to budget.
Description Child with money

During a trip to the mall try this simple budgeting exercise.

1. Go to a mall food court and take out a five dollar bill. You can have anything that you want at the food court but you can't spend more than the five dollar bill (including taxes).

2. Go to each vendor and see what kind of deals they have and check prices for comparable products (for example: is a hamburger and a small drink the same at McDonalds, A&W and Wendy's?). You will also want to check and see if there are any deals or coupons which could save you money on your order.

3. Try to purchase the most complete meal (or the most food possible) without going over your $5 budget.

4. Enjoy your meal and your savings!
